Bamboo
Bamboo is used extensively throughout Asia for weaving baskets. It is very sturdy, but does not have quite the flexible properties of rattan.
Usually, needs to be packaged separately from other items ordered, so an additional shipping charge will apply.

Fiber Rush (Paper Rush)
Twisted round paper cord. It is often used in weaving chair seats. Many old pieces of wicker furniture are made of fiber rush. A bundle will usually cover an average chair seat of approx. 12" x 12". Also used in coiling.

Twisted round paper cord in white. Can be dyed to match your project as long as material is not allowed to soak for a long length of time.

Natural Rush

Chip Wood Strips
Some of the baskets coming out of China are being made of this wood. It is from a tree that grows quickly and can be harvested and reforested easily. Soak the strips for a minute or so, and the wood becomes very flexible - bends and curls very well. But..., it is a bit brittle when dry. Looks like pine. We are trying this out as a new product. Let us know what you think! Should we order more?
