Twisted Seagrass Cord

Seagrass is a grass that is hand twisted into cord. It can be used instead of rush on chair seats. Seagrass can also be used in basketweaving in combination with other materials or by itself for a "soft weave" look. It makes a great decorative accent. It is also popular with Gourd artists. Greenish in color, the width varies within the cord. All weights are approximate.

Loose Seagrass

Also known as seagrass stems, this is the material from which twisted seagrass cordage is made. It is ideal for use as a coiling core or for twining into a basket.

Braided Seagrass

Seagrass that has been made into a three strand braid. It makes a wonderful flexible rim. Or, use it as an accent piece in the body of a basket.

Dyed Mini Seagrass

One pound coils. Dyed by us with Jacquard Dye. Deep rich colors.

These colors are for reference only. Each coil dyes differently, & each will likely be a different color. Some grass within the coil may dye differently. Also, the coils tend to twist when they are dyed. The cordage is fine - the coil is just not neat and tidy anymore. We do NOT re-coil the cordage.

Dye lots change with each batch - sometimes with each coil! Often pieces of grass within the cordage will dye differently from others. The only thing that is sure is that the color will be different each time. ALSO: some coils tend to twist out of shape when dyed. The cordage is fine, but the coil is no longer neat and tidy. We do NOT re-coil the seagrass. As with all dyed material - wipe with paper towel before weaving into basket to prevent color from bleeding
