Cotton webbing is traditionally used on Shaker style chair seats, and is also popular in basketry as tote handles and backpack straps. Sadly, Shaker Tape is no longer being produced in the United States. Currently, it comes from Taiwan, and is sold in whole yard increments only. Rolls are NOT one continuous length. There will be an additional charge to cut tape to specific lengths. Formula for figuring yardage for seats is at the bottom of this page.

**Shaker Tape Accessories**

	Shaker Tape Weaving Tools Designed to be used in Shaker tape seat weaving, but great for basketry, too. Curved wood with hole in one end for tape to go through. 10" overall length. Measurements are the width at the larger end of the tool. They are designed to work with 5/8" Shaker Tape. The end holes where the Tape goes are smaller than the tape. The tape will bunch slightly, but the tool still works beautifully! These are great tools for adding Shaker Tape straps to Tote Baskets. We've been told they also work wonders for lifting the spokes when weaving twills.	Sadly, these tools will no longer be available, as the maker has retired. We have purchased the remainder of his stock, but the only size left is the 5/8" tool.

Formula for Measuring Amount of Shaker Tape Needed For A Seat:

Answer is in yards

#1 - Measure the width of the seat at the widest point (in inches).
#2 - Measure the depth of the seat at the deepest point (in inches).
#3 - Multiply the width by the depth.
#4 - Divide by 9 for 1" Tape.
Or - Divide by 5.3 for 5/8" Tape
